We are experienced in all aspects of your claim including the initial insurance claim.  After your initial medical appointments you will find that there are many details to handle.  First, both your insurance company and the insurance for the person who caused the accident will want to interview you.  You will need to complete an application for benefits with your insurance to get your medical bills and your lost wages paid.  This is called your personal injury protection coverage or PIP. 

 

Another early portion of your claim will be getting your car fixed.  All of your property damage should be investigated as early as possible.  This includes your car and any other property that was damaged or lost in the accident.  You will need to either get your car repaired or negotiate for a fair settlement if your car has been totalled.  If you will be getting your car repaired you will need to find a good bodyshop or repair facility.  Oregon law allows you to choose where to get your car fixed.  Often the insurance company will recommend where you should get your car fixed.  You do not need to take your car there.  Feel free to take your car where it is convenient and where you have received good recommendations. 

 

If the repairs to your car are extensive you may have a diminished value claim.  If your car has suffered frame damage you may have a viable claim.  Unfortunately, even after your car has been repaired it may be worth less as a result of the crash.  We work with respected appraisers to support your claims of diminished value.  Often the insurance companies will deny these claims without a credible appraisal and an experienced attorney who is willing to fight for your rights.  We will fight for you.

 

In addition to your auto insurance benefits for lost wages you may be entitled to disability benefits.  You may have a policy as a benefit from your employeror in some cases you may qualify for a Social Security Disability claim.  We can help you with all aspects of your claims for benefits.
